Mixed media Sculpture, Works on paper, Artist books

My work is “text-driven” and inspired by familial and historical events. Words, fragments of poetry and narratives are juxtaposed with metal, fibers, “found objects”, collaged and printed images.

Forged metals forms, hand-made papers and found objects are embellished with a variety of techniques including stitching, wrapping, weaving, beading and finished in encaustic-style techniques.

Active, and confrontational, the content has always been focused on the side of Human Rights and Spirituality. I make a conscious effort to connect my forms to the great traditions of African Art and its vast ethnic, spiritual and artistic diaspora.
